Preheating calculation
In connection with Banedanmark’s track lowering at Vesterbro in Aalborg, Sejerslev carried out a central part of the structural steel works as a subcontractor.
The work comprised extensive welding on sheet piles as well as associated safety and steel structures directly adjacent to active railway infrastructure.
Approx. 200 sheet piles under stringent requirements
Sejerslev extended and welded together approx. 200 sheet piles. The work was carried out in EXC3 acc. to DS/EN 1090-2 with stringent requirements for welding procedures, documentation, traceability and inspection.
The project also comprised preheating calculation and execution acc. to DS/EN 1011-2. The work was performed under Banedanmark’s inspection regime with continuous supervision.
Working at an active railway
Sejerslev’s employees completed Banedanmark’s relevant safety training and obtained approval to work on Danish railway facilities.
The work was planned and coordinated with the main contractor, the safety organisation and Banedanmark’s supervision, with a focus on railway operations and occupational safety.
Railing and bespoke plates
Sejerslev also delivered and installed approx. 200 metres of railing as well as custom-made sealing and bulkhead plates.
The plates were adapted and modified to the geometry of the sheet piling and installed as an integrated part of the safety solution.
The project comprised EXC3 welding work, preheating calculation, traceable documentation and continuous inspection during execution.
The work was carried out in a safety-critical environment with stringent procedures for access, communication, working environment and documentation.
